AN/AAQ-28(V) LITENING Targeting Pod

The LITENING family of targeting pods has achieved more than 1.5 million flight hours

LITENING 1.5 million hoursNorthrop Grumman's LITENING system is a self-contained, multi-sensor weapon aiming system that enables fighter pilots to detect, acquire, auto-track and identify targets for highly accurate delivery of both conventional and precision-guided weapons.

LITENING's achievement of 1.5 million flight hours is a testament to its reliability, flexible upgrade path and adaptability to multiple missions.

LITENING G4: The newest member of the family

Northrop Grumman has delivered more than 200 LITENING G4 systems to date. The LITENING G4 Advanced Targeting Pod is the newest addition to the company's LITENING family of targeting pods, delivering the latest advancements in sensor, laser imaging and data link technology. The G4's technologies include a full 1Kx1K forward looking infrared and charge-coupled device, as well as short wave infrared laser imaging sensors, color symbology, tracker improvement and enhanced zoom. These advancements deliver more accurate target identification and location at longer ranges than previous generations of LITENING targeting pod systems while reducing pilot workload.

LITENING: Flexible and proven in combat

LITENING on A-10LITENING pods have proven their combat capabilities and inherent flexibility to adapt to changing operational requirements. Rapid integration on a wide variety of aircraft (AV-8B, A-10A/C, B-52H, EA-6Bs, F-15E, F-16 and F/A-18s), plus the wide fielding of internal data links are just two examples of the benefits realized by the warfighter. Customers for LITENING include all components of the U.S. Air Force (active duty, Air National Guard (ANG) and Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC)), the U.S. Marine Corps (active duty and reserves), the Italian and Spanish navies, the Israeli Air Force, the Royal Australian Air Force, the Royal Netherlands Air Force, the Finnish Air Force and the Portuguese Air Force.
