Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radars

With more than 25 years of experience, Northrop Grumman is the world leader in AESA fire control radar. Today, we have delivered over 150 systems.

Our first generation active phased array was built in 1985. This breakthrough in technology allowed for the demonstration of the concept of steering beams generated by distributed transmit and receive modules. Learn more in our white paper and in "AESA Radar: Revolutionary Capability for Multiple Missions" from Northrop Grumman Review.

The new radar system will provide the Marines with enhanced capabilities to detect, track, and provide target quality data to engage hostile aircraft, cruise missiles, unmanned air vehicles, rockets, mortars, and artillery.

MP-RTIPMulti-Platform Radar Technology Improvement Program (MP-RTIP)
The MP-RTIP radar uses active electronically scanned array technology and commercial off-the-shelf hardware to deliver long range, very high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR), ground moving target indicator (GMTI) capabilities and air target tracking.

MESA radarMultirole Electronically Scanned Array (MESA) Radar for the 737 AEW&C
The MESA radar provides air-to-air coverage, air-to-surface coverage, integrated identification friend or foe, special track beams and focused sector operation.
