CAREER DEVELOPMENT
- Career planning workshops, self-assessments, and career advising services for individuals/organizations
- Careers Database, a posting system that gives our employees internal access to career and mobility opportunities -- while staying within the organization
ANNUAL PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM (PAS)
Provides a structure for employees and their managers to discuss goals and objectives, strengths and development plans. As part of PAS, employees can access their current skills using the Employee Development Framework, which highlights skills inventories for their both their specific job function and basic leadership competencies as well as a variety of development options.
EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK (EDF)
Enables employees to assess their job-specific and leadership skills, and choose their own development options from four core elements:
- Job experiences – New and broadening assignments, Performance Appraisal Systems (PAS) objectives and participation on action learning teams
- Knowledge Transfer/Coaching – mentoring relationships, learning groups, and lessons-learned activities
- Organizational knowledge and exposure – management roundtable sessions, staff meetings, executive briefings and reading about the business through a variety of company communication sources
- Coursework/experiential learning – internal and external courses focusing on both job-specific and leadership skills (instructor-led and e-Learning options), continuing education and experiential activities
EDUCATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Covers tuition and fee expenses for approved, relevant degree/certificate programs and/or courses
TARGETED DEVELOPMENT
- Customized training and development opportunities for specific groups of employees
- Function-specific training from multiple homerooms: Engineering & Manufacturing, Legal, Regulatory Systems, Business Management, Business Conduct & Ethics, Proposal Support Center
- Technical Training for Engineers: Internal courses and sabbatical/research awards
- Information Technology & Applications Training: PC Applications, e-Learning
- Curriculum for Newly-Appointed Managers: Interpersonal skills, management tools and skills, personal effectiveness, and policy/procedure awareness
- Program Manager Development: Standards and development initiatives for several tiers of Program Manager competency
- Development for New Employees: New Graduate Professional Development Program provides targeted business and technical courses for new and recently-hired employees
