Why are commercial aircraft especially vulnerable to MANPADS?

MANPADS seek heat, and a commercial airliner has several heat sources for the missile to track, including engines, lights, air-conditioning units, auxiliary power units, etc.

Will Guardian™ increase the flight crew workload?

No. All the pilot has to do is turn Guardian™ on during the normal preflight. Guardian™ operates without further crew action during flight.

Are false alarms a problem for Guardian™?

No. Guardian™ is designed and tested to minimize false alerts to the aircrew and ground authorities.

Is Guardian™ harmful to aircraft occupants, ground crews or the general public?

No. Occupants are completely protected. There are numerous safeguards to prevent accidental activation on the ground. In the air, Guardian™ is designed to aim and fire the laser only in response to a genuine missile threat.

Is Guardian™ more effective than ground-based systems?

Yes. Ground-based systems only protect a relatively small area on or around an airport. Guardian™ provides protection wherever the aircraft flies.
