Northrop Grumman's advanced laser-based missile protection system, the Guardian™ Missile Defense System, will protect the aircraft from the most advanced man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) missiles. Guardian™ protects the aircraft, crew, and passengers, and is the most modern system available. Unlike older missile protection systems which protect against only older type missiles, and only protect the rear of the aircraft, this protection system provides full protection - 360 degrees around the aircraft - against the most lethal missiles in the hands of terrorists worldwide. Guardian™ builds on the experience gained on our production system, AN/AAQ-24 DIRCM, a system fully tested and proven against actual missiles at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The AAQ-24(V) DIRCM has been selected for use by the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Danish Governments.
