Guardian™ effectively defends against the MANPADS threat

Northrop Grumman countermeasures systems have been defending against MANPADS missiles for over 50 years with continually evolving technology. Northrop Grumman's military system, AN/AAQ-24(V) Directional Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM), employs laser-based technology, protecting military and heads-of-state aircraft and their crews from even the most sophisticated threats. The AN/AAQ-24(V) is the only DIRCM system currently in production, operational and deployed in the world with 500 aircraft installations on 50 different aircraft types, including large and small fixed wing, rotary wing and tilt wing platforms.  

Based on this proven technology, the Northrop Grumman Guardian™ Missile Defense System will defend against even the most advanced MANPADS missiles, providing a safe, cost effective and maintainable solution to the MANPAD threat.
