LR-240 North Finding Unit / Enhanced Inertial Measurement Unit
The LR-240 Northfinder / Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) leverages Fiber Optic Gyros (FOG) and Silicon Accelerometer sensors to provide aviation-grade performance (heading, delta theta, delta velocity) while minimizing weight, power requirements, and size. Inertial technology allows it to operate in GPS challenged / denied environments. Unlike many other devices, the LR-240 is not as sensitive to magnetic influences.
Northfinder
The LR-240 is ideally suited for far target location when integrated with a host system such as a laser rangefinder / designator, thermal imager, FLIR or ground based radar. The 2-4 mil accuracy results in unsurpassed minimization of target location error (TLE), while the low power is ideal for battery powered applications.
Enhanced IMU
The LR-240 is an ideal solution where an enhanced IMU is required for sensor or platform stabilization. The low angle random walk (0.002°/√hr) and bias stability (0.04°/hr) are ideal for pointing, image stabilization and similar applications. Its small size and low power requirements make it ideal for retrofitting into existing platforms.
LR-240 advantages
- Lowest weight and volume in performance class
- No moving parts for extremely high reliability
- Low magnetic sensitivity
- Proven light-weight, low-cost FOG technology eliminates the need for dithering and high voltage inputs
- Leverages zero velocity updates to automatically improve performance during stationary periods
- Leverages optional external GPS inputs for further performance improvements
