Northrop Grumman’s Viper™ is a small, lightweight multi-band laser for infrared countermeasures (IRCM) applications. All Viper™ components, including all wavelength conversion and beam- forming optics controller and power supply, fit in a 13-inch diameter x 2-inch high chassis, weighing less than 10 pounds. Viper™ is the lightest laser available for IRCM applications.
Northrop Grumman and Fibertek Inc. have collaborated to develop a modular, compact, air-cooled, all-band laser for IRCM applications. Viper™, part of the NEMESIS family of IR protection components, is compatible with the all-laser transmitter. Capable of jamming virtually all fielded IR missiles, the Viper™ uses 320 Watts of electrical power, weighs less than 10 pounds and is packaged in a two-inch high case. Viper™ is part of the selected EO/IR CM protection solution for the CV-22 and Wedgetail.
